ROBLOX is a massively multiplayer online game developed and published by Roblox Corporation. It is marketed towards children and teenagers between 8 and 16. The site has been running since 2006. Roblox can be played on the PC, or on iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPod touch 5 and any successor to these devices. There is no Android version of this application.
The game is a mixture between an open-ended MMO without goals, and a social site such as MySpace. Players can explore each other's "places", which are built like Lego and can be programmed to be almost anything from a platformer game to soccer or basketball.
Roblox can be very useful and educational for children, because using it they learn a lot about marketing, programming, advertising, and game designing. Roblox is programmed with a sandboxed version of the LUA 5.1 language. Players can construct their little virtual worlds in Roblox Studio using bricks, blocks of various sizes, events and scripts. The game is heavily moderated by administrators in order to preserve a safe environment for children. The chat is also working on a Whitelist (for players under the age of 13) or Blacklist system, which means that only players above the age of 13 can use the chat unrestricted.
