EverQuest II is the sequel to the original EverQuest online MMORPG game by Sony Online Entertainment. It is set 500 years after the first game in the same world of Norrath, albeit tons of changes were made to the world after a catastrophic event has happened. It launched in 2004 as a subscription-based MMO, with a free-to-play/sub hybrid model which was finalized after a long testing period in 2011. The game is available on SOE's online website or on Steam, with some limitations in available classes, races, abilities and expansion contents for F2Ps.
The game is class-based, with more than 20 races and 25 classes to choose from, and is heavily quest-driven in its current iteration. Many features were added over the years in expansions, such as housing, many trade-skills, custom dungeon editor and much more. It is a traditional hotbar-based, slower-paced combat game which focuses heavily on quests and stories associated with these. There are about 90 levels to earn, with almost every expansion raising the level cap or adding new alternate advancement methods.
Old-school MMO players may have a good time with this game, with good-looking graphics, tons of different and varying environments to explore, and lots of quests and stories to enjoy, although the actual gameplay itself is pretty outdated and static compared to most more modern MMOs.
