Age of Conan: Unchained is a gritty, dark fantasy-themed MMORPG set in the Conan the Barbarian universe. The game features a very dark, mature storyline and environments. It was originally released in 2008 as a subscription game, but Funcom started using a hybrid model in 2011. F2P players have access to the base game, most of the classes and some of the raiding content. Additional content packs and the Rise of the Godslayer expansion can be bought from the Item Shop for Funcom Points.
The game itself is a mixture between classic trinity-based MMOs and action combat. Combat is very bloody and gory, and utilizes chaining of your skills in different ways for better and stronger attacks. Questing is somewhat traditional, with strong presence of storyline instances, cinematics and solo dungeons filled with an overarching storyline that takes you across the world of Hyboria. The end-game is very traditional, with several tiers of raid, of which the first two entry-level dungeons are available to F2P players. The game also features 40 vs 40 PvP sieges and an alternate advancement at max level, although both of these features are locked behind a subscription or the item shop.
Graphics are brutally good, the storyline is fairly interesting, but as a F2P player there isn't much to do at the end-game.
